FESTIVITIES OF SAINT-FOY

October 8 & 9, 2022

The festivities start on Saturday 8th of October, with activities organized by the Friars Community of Conques:

  • Pilgrimage from Sénergues to Conques (bring your pic-nic) at 12:00 noon
  • At 20:30, torchlight procession in the village (candles will be set by the residents along the path). A religious ceremony will close the procession.

The major procession with the golden reliquary-statue will be hel on Sunday 9th of October at 10:30am. 

  • A concert is programmed in the church at 15:30.

    night show - Lights and Polychromy on the Tympanum

    program from April to october

    Regular programming

    • 21:00 : Presentation of the tympanum of the Last Judgment by a friar from the religious community of Conques (in French)
    • 21:30 : Visit of the upper-gallery of the abbey-church (close to the Romanesque capitals and the contemporary glass windows by Pierre Soulages) - Access allowed from 12 years old ; fee 6€
    • 22:15 : Polychromy of the Tympanum - By night, the progressive revealing of the colours offer a revisited reading of the 12th century tympanum and its 124 sculpted figures. Composing the Last Judgment and depicting the celestial Court, the angels, the elected, the condemned and other devils come to life.

    CONQUES GREAT SITE OF OCCITANIE

    Following the experience of the « Great Sites in Midi-Pyrenees », the new region Occitanie unveiled the first list of touristic sites on the eve to become "Great Sites of Occitanie".
    Conques belongs to the first round. To be admitted, the nominees must present a development strategy for their territory, while elaborating a transversal strategic project for 5 years, counting with the influence of this same territory, a guardian of stable activities and attractiveness.
    The main objective of the process is to answer the travellers’ new concerns based on rich, unique and unusual experiences that give sense to their journey.
