The museum is renowned for its exceptional ensemble of statue-menhirs - sculpted 5000 years ago, they are the oldest monumental statues known in western Europe. The museum's circuit retraces the history of the Rouergue from the first man (300000years ago) to the 17th century. It is organised around four main themes: the statue-menhirs, ancient Rodez, the Rouergue in the Middle Ages, the 16th century and the Renaissance. Numerous tools to help your visit and enable a personalised approach to the collections using models, drawings, audiovisual shows or interactive terminals.
